Four Seasons installed this Carrier Heat Pump in June of 2008 which started renovation of our Gordon Head Box.
We were fed up with large bills for home heating oil and stymied by a chimney for the oil furnace and oil fired water heater and how to get rid of it so that a bump out could be added to the dining room.

We contacted Four Seasons to inquire about heat pumps and Jon Hurley gave us some very valuable advice to get the project started. He suggested we get an energy audit to pinpoint the deficiencies in the heating system of our home and from that report Jon came up with a plan that not only replaced aging equipment, but increased our homes energy efficiency by almost 20 points and qualified for full rebates offered by provincial and federal eco energy programs.
The major source of heat for our 2200 sq ft home is a Carriere heat pump that is wonderfully efficient and very inexpensive to operate. We no longer have costly oil bills and it has made no significant impact on our electric bill. By code, the heat pump has to have a back up furnace so we added a high efficiency gas furnace that vents out the side of the house. The heat pump keeps the house at an even temperature and the back -up furnace comes on very few times in the winter, only if the temp hits – 8. It also has the added bonus of providing air conditioning for the infrequent Island heat waves. Horatio the cat and Duncan the dog are big fans of that feature.

And since the gas was now in, Jon suggested we add an on demand water heater. We never run out of hot water, it is extremely energy efficient and it freed up valuable floor space in the laundry room. This meant we could eliminate the ugly chimney stack for the oil appliances and add the bump in the dining room.
The gas line also enabled us to install two gas fireplaces in the house which add glamour to their respective rooms and freed us from chimney sweeping, log stacking and smoky fireplaces. The last piece in the puzzle was the Carriere air cleaner. It works like a treat, trapping all the animal hair and dust bunnies.
We can`t thank Four Seasons enough for their expert advice and assistance with this project. From the first visit, to the installation and final inspections, their advice and assistance were invaluable. We have reduced our carbon footprint and have energy and cost efficient HVAC system that is the envy of our friends and neighbors!

In June, 2009, I had 4 Seasons Heating install a Carrier Performance heat pump, replace my existing gas furnace with a Carrier Infinity furnace with an EZ Flex filter and replace my electric hot water tank with a natural gas Navien continuous supply hot water heater. I had a number of estimates for the heat pump and furnace and I felt that Jon offered the best combination of reasonable price for top quality equipment. He worked with me and with the Energy Assessment coordinator to ensure that the equipment he was supplying in conjunction with my existing ductwork would meet my needs and would qualify for available grant incentives. When the installation date was approaching, the furnace which I had been quoted on was not available, so Jon upgraded to a higher-end model rather than delay our installation. As this was a retrofit installation, the workers had to work around the existing gas and electrical supply locations. Exhaust piping was made more difficult by the fact that the furnace room and the neighbouring laundry room were both completely drywalled and finished. The 4 Seasons installers were very punctual, professional and always careful keep our house clean and undamaged. When the job was finished, they cleaned up after themselves and removed all packaging materials and the old furnace and hot water tank. The end result was a clean installation which has the appearance of an original installation.

We have been very satisfied with the service which we received from 4 Seasons. Two issues surfaced with the hot water heater, one being excessive noise transmission to the bedroom above it and a later issue with the heater performance. 4 Seasons quickly responded to our concerns and installed vibration deadening materials at the heater and on the water lines. When they were unable to address the heating issue, a new motherboard was obtained from the manufacturer and was replaced the day after it arrived.

The equipment which was installed has exceeded our expectations. In addition to now having air conditioning, the new furnace fan is very quiet and since we run the fan continuously on low speed and keep our windows closed, the amount of dust and pollen in our house has decreased noticeably. Our hydro power bills indicate that we are using an average of 12 kwh less per day than we did for the same periods before the heating and water conversions. Our natural gas consumption over this past winter has been approximately 50% of what it was last year.

I have no difficulty in recommending 4 Seasons Heating and would gladly use them again.
